how to save 20 quid...
I had a nice meal out with my co-workers who were in town from Austria and the Netherlands. We had a few pints at the posh pub near my work and then a nice meal at the French Brassiere just across the road from our office. I am such a lightweight when it comes to drinking I think I managed about 2.5 pints throughout the entire night... I fought off the temptation to take a taxi home with the money I didn't spend (as they expensed it) I took the tube home instead....
I was standing on the platform waiting anxiously for the train to arrive. 2 mins was what it said on the indicator... it was the longest 2 minutes... London underground clearly lies!
While I was waiting I spotted the cutest tiniest mouse I've ever seen in my life. It was no bigger than half the size of my pinkie finger. Just so ickle and cute. A few other people waiting spotted it too as it nervously flittered across the platform. The screams and agitation it caused were most fantastic... they were all sat on the benches with their legs curled up squealing... I can't stress just how tiny this little thing was.
The panic subsided a bit and a few more people walked onto the platform... it was kind of cool as this bloke walked by and spotted the tiny mouse peeking out from it's little hole... he looked at me and without words I knew he was trying to ask me if I saw what he did... I nodded and said yes, it's so cute isn't it? He agreed.
It's not often you have a quick friendly banter with someone on public transport in this city. but when it does happen, it's a nice thing.
So the moral of the story is... I saved 20£ and had a positive London moment!
